Why I built TAPP

My name is Kat, and I built The Aging Parent Project because nobody handed me a guide when I needed one.

It started the way it usually does — not with a plan, but with a phone call. Something had changed, and I had to figure out what came next while I was already in the middle of it. There was no manual for any of it: what to ask, what mattered most, how to tell the difference between a normal hard day and a sign that something bigger needed to happen. I learned almost everything the way most people do — in pieces, usually at the worst possible moment, right after I needed to already know it.

Caring for my dad was never something I resented or a role I felt I'd been handed unfairly. It was something I wanted to do well. What I didn't have was a way to know where I was in it, or what was coming next — and that's the gap TAPP exists to close.

For 15+ years, my professional work has been translating complicated things — enterprise technology, regulated industries, complex B2B products and services — into something a person or business can understand and act on. TAPP is that same instinct, pointed at something far more personal: turning the chaos of caregiving into something you can actually navigate, stage by stage.

TAPP won't make the timing convenient. Nothing does. But it means you don't have to figure this out entirely alone.
